Everybody loves Mark Lindquist. Who can deny the string of fawning puff pieces from every publication in the South Puget Sound?  If, like me, you've seen his face on the cover of the Seattle magazine City Arts Tacoma in addition to Lakewood "alternative" newspaper Weekly Volcano--Volcano being the innovator by offering a 'Be Mark Lindquist' cut-out mask cover--One has to wonder, If I was Mark Lindquist what would I do with a Mark Lindquist Volcano newspaper mask?  The Tacomic, Tacoma's ONLY underground political cartoon is unafraid to imagine such a role-play scenario.

MEANWHILE..

mark hates you

You might also have seen his face on telephone poles round Hilltop and Central Tacoma.. but as you may well know, the opinions of anarchists rarely amount to much more than a passing intellectual curiosity.

The Tacomic encourages you to share your own Mark Lindquist stories below!  Also check out some of those anarchist zine downloads (link above)... some really strange crap in there!

I always figured he had plenty of friends amongst the local luminaries. Though, to be fair, even if I like someone or something, the breathless exposes in City Arts occasionally make me regret my biases.

My favorite City Arts moment was when the editor of City Arts Tacoma finally made it downtown FOR THE FIRST TIME during the David Boe article... and was like "Wow! Tacoma really doesn't suck that bad"

Or maybe my favorite City Arts moment is this article about the Tacoma Letterpress scene that completely overlooks the whole Beautiful Angle school of art....

Anger over Tacoma medical marijuana raids goes on Facebook

Cat Jeter wants Tacoma city officials to know how people living and working in the city feel about medical marijuana, but her message needs more than mere words.

from the memory hole....

One unflattering book review from The Stranger

"Mark Lindquist doesn't care about Seattle's epic touchiness, and he's written a novel that's not only set in the local music scene, but populated with characters from it. The story of a former musician, now a successful prosecutor looking for love, Never Mind Nirvana (oy!) is the name-droppingest book since The Andy Warhol Diaries."

Ah, MARK LINDQUIST MASK COURTESY OF FRIENDS AT WEEKLY VOLCANO!

by Erik
on 8/24/2010 @ 12:48pm
Mark Lindquist rules.

Here was an earlier post on why you should vote for him:

1. Experienced prosecutor who has helped reduced crime in Pierce County.

For almost five years Mark was the Team Chief of the Drug Unit. In that time methamphetamine labs were reduced by nearly 90% in Pierce County. In the effort to reduce methamphetamine labs, Mark worked with local law enforcement, the community, and our legislative delegation.

2. Attended the exact same elite (formally) Tacoma based law school as the Tacoma Urbanist in the same exact year and section.

3. Deliberately choose to be a public servant when he had opportunities in the private sector as an accomplished author. Unlike some elected officials, he does not need the job.

4. Has fought to keep Tacoma from being the "dumping ground" for felons for the rest of the State of Washington.

5. Maintains contact and credibility with both the mainstream, alternative media, neighborhood associations, the Tacoma Blogosphere and many other civic groups.

6. Lindquist was appointed as the Prosecutor to serve out the remainder of Gerry Horne's term by a bi-partison unanimous vote of the Pierce County Council.

7. Lindquist is friends with Tim Farrell, friend of Tacoma and former Frost Park Chalk Off sponsor.

We are lucky he has not moved to Seattle like so many other successful Tacomans.

another use for the ML volcano mask:
mj dispensary owners wear them during police raids. send TPD away by yelling out "no charges filed!" when swat teams kick down their door.

So, what's going wrong in Pierce County? Why did Macourek's house get ransacked by cops, and why are medical marijuana patients running scared?

The answer, not surprisingly, isn't cut and dried.

People like Dawdy place a heavy blame at the top, and specifically on Lindquist.

"The Prosecutor's Office has no interest in prosecuting legitimate medical marijuana users or providers who play by the rules," says Lindquist.

Again, what those becoming frustrated with the situation in Tacoma and Pierce County can't figure out is what exactly that means

this is good stuff you guys should read the volcano

by smeall
on 8/28/2010 @ 10:31pm
how AWESOME that the true media at volcano is tackling the most convoluted laws on the books. i'll comment on the article itself later, but it seems to leave out all the valiant (and squashed) attempts by senator jeanne kohl-welles & friends to close this loop...i can almost guarantee the special interest groups blocking these bills EVERY YEAR are the same ones pushing pierce county public officials to engage in this absurd circus. bleh!
so mr. nachos, thank you for sharing the article...and goading this response ;/

Clearly Mark Lindquist is already running for the next seat he wants. Nice find, 'Nachos. Mark should be using those signs as his next yard sign.

by NineInchNachos
on 9/28/2010 @ 11:17am
I like that sub title "we cooperate with MARK LINDQUIST" I can see that as a yard sign...

by Crenshaw Sepulveda

With the Borg it was resistance is futile. With Lindquist cooperation is essential. In future well familiarize your cats with Mark Lindquist by using this drawing. I should have my "I cooperate with Mark Lindquist" cat collars up on my cafe press any day now.

Passing bad checks is not illegal---check the rcw yourself---it is only a criminal offense to "knowingly" pass a bad check...if you "accidently" write a bad check it's still just a mistake
NO crime...but posting this sign during an election is a PDC violation. Is it currently posted? where? Oh Ya...Mark Lindquist be nicer to criminals...I mean about crime...I mean...
Well, there just is no good way to say it, "protect me from crimes i do not like, and let me go on crimes i do like [recreational marijuana use], and write more books, come on!

Now, a personal call to Phil Stutzman, compliance director, pdc.

before I black-out the second cell of the above original-pencil-art Mark Lindquist cartoon (by request of buyer) is there anyone here that would like to purchase the cut out original drawing of the lady in the nightgown only? Thanks!

The lady in the night gown was the least offensive part.
