VOTE BOE!  Kind of dry. BOE BRO!  UNO BOE! ?    Oh, I got it... QUID PRO BOE!   Flow with Boe?   Here is an easy one... MELLO HE'S OUR FELLOW!  THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR MELLO ?   bah.  Even so, this cartoon was inspired by an article I heard about in the billboard loving degenerate tabloid the Weekly Volcano written by Mr. Zack Powers. This cartoon also pays tribute to this fine cartoon strip I hope to see in a book someday.  I don't always agree with the libertarian views of the crows, but their heart is in the right place... they still care about historic places being defiled by idiotic parking lots and digital billboards.  What a tremendous waste of property AND free money.  Meanwhile the search for a City Manager replacement goes on.   Anders Ibsen?

This cartoon was designed to be made into campaign buttons too. Just cut out the faces.  Was going to add in some non-photo blue circle guides but got lazy.

Britton Sukys says:
Nice...My wife used to temp at Devita when we first moved here and finding parking was a company wide problem. They'd go space hunting in packs. I may look like a "whore" here, but a parking hole/garage doesn't seem as a terrible idea. They do good work and provide real jobs (especially since Russell blazed.)

by The Jinxmedic on 4/12/2011 @ 10:03am
So the city should give DaVita a nice gift of Park Place North. Good COVERED parking for DaVita- covered parking that is already there!

"Make no little plans. Who went to the trouble of painting over that subversive graffiti at the 13th and Pacific site of the Luzon tragedy, but left the image of the communist terrorist leftist pinko Che intact?"

Having a vision or an idea is one thing but it needs to be backed up by city ordinances. A parking lot should not be an allowed use for ground level. Ground level really should be retail if you are looking to attract people.

Grand scheme of things 26 parking stalls really aren't that many new jobs, but if there was a developer that was interested in that property wouldn't they have stepped forward by now? Also, there really is only one side represented here. DaVita may draw employees from the suburbs and light rail & street parking may not be good substitutes for a parking spot where you aren't going to get tickets.

I work in the area and until now only "thought" that there was actually going to be a parking structure, NOT 26 (26, in all that space? really?) ground level parking stalls. I think it's a waste of development potential and wish everyone didn't rush in to provide parking for 26 cars... The dirt alone must have cost majority of the project LOL

Maybe the city could run a competitive process for ideas to fill that space, and David Boe could act as a consultant to a group of bidders and then try to steer the council towards awarding the project to his group - just like he did with Cheney Stadium. I am a little tired of many who post here acting like, because he is an architect, he is the "expert" at urban planning and will be Tacoma's saviour.

Looking on the bright side, if he loses his drivers license for awhile, maybe we will get some action from the city council to restore our bus service.

On a serious note, thankfully no one got killed (like me on my bike)  due to his recklessness.  Getting run over by a drunk politician that I voted for would suck big time.

"Officer, I don't have a drinking problem. I drink. I get drunk. No problem."

by JesseHillFan on 1/22/2013 @ 3:07am
One time I tried riding one of my bicycles on a friends property when I was drunk.
I couldn't maintain my balance at all and fell over laughing however I could have easily driven/operated  a motor vehicle at that particular state of inebriation though I wouldn't do so (I'll just catch a ride from a friend or call a cab in that case).
It would also have been possible to cycle if I were on a recumbent trike too being drunk but again just not possible to maintain balance very well on a bike unless the state of inebriation is very low.

I was just thinking about Ryan Mello having to renew his orca card!

Tickle fights among men while driving is unsafe at any speed.

by cisserosmiley on 1/22/2013 @ 10:45am
I see many being extremely supportive of the young council member. I wonder if it was Jake Fey or mayor Strickland, if there would be an outcry about maturity, intention, & value? Instead, this is a "learning experience" WE are all being led on by our leader for the purpose of his growth...
