It all started one dark and stormy night when Kevin decided to take matters into his own hands and post about this new sweatshirt design for mass consumption at the republic 253 store.

Then things got out of hand. Alternative designs were drawn up. Feelings got hurt.  The sweatshirt appeared on exit133  and the News Tribune.
Then Things got weird.  VIA the New Takhoman:

Naccarato vs. Anderson: A Facebook-Exit133-Feed Tacoma shootout

Meet Steve Naccarato, seller of the of the City of Tacoma ionic symbol. The 253 Heart. Son of (Mr. Tacoma) Stan. Brother of restaurateur Gordon. A member of a Tacoma grown family with a reputation to uphold.

Last Thursday, when Naccarato considered introducing his next 253 icon, he and his family’s reputation took a turn south. His latest brain child, a black hoodie sweatshirt emblazoned with a gun cryptically inscribed with the Area Code 253.

A vast majority of FacebookFeed TacomaExit133 and Kits Merryman readers took umbrage to Naccarato’s art as he called it. Among them was local political cartoonist R.R. Anderson, who felt if a gun was a good enough icon for Tacoma why not meth or child porn.

And that’s when Naccarato went ballistic. In a flurry of electronic messages Naccarato berated, cajoled and threatened Anderson if an apology was not forthcoming.

RR, I'm sending you this privately, and if you want to go public with this that's fine…When you start talking about me doing child porn next, you have gone too far. One more teeny tiny comment like that and I'll expose you for what I have learned about you from common friends over the past years. You have crossed a line. Try me again.”

Anderson replies.

“Eh? Just making fun of the gun. Creating a buzz! Not sure what you have but I bet is fun. – RR I think the gun is a real bad idea. Just sayin. Yucky. Not good at all. Stick with the hearts. Hearts mean love. Jesus man! What is Tacoma aka 'the 253' known for? Meth, Child Porn, Gun Violence. You got 1 out of 3.”

Naccarato takes the next shot.

“Yea well we have been on ok terms until today, but you crossed the line with the child porn comment. You make an apology there and set that right or you and I are going to have a problem. One I don't think you want out there. I know shit you have no idea about re: how u have f**ked with friends of mine. If you want to see who has a bigger sword then say the word my friend. Waiting. You have f**ked with lots of people over the years and gotten away with far too much me thinks. Let’s see who has bigger friends eh? Might be fun.”

Anderson stands his ground.

“I'm almost curious to taunt again just to figure out what the blue blazes you are blathering about? Who? What? Yes I mess with people. It’s my thing! You can’t take criticism. Maybe art isn't your thing?”

A chip off the old block, Naccarato just won’t let go.

“I will also be doing this in the light of day with your friends....and my associates.......and let them decide who they believe.”

Anderson taunts back.

“Child porn. A man was just convicted in the newspaper of like 17 counts. Should that be something to celebrate? So why with the gun crap?”

Naccarato counters with another threat.

“Go make a public apology by tomorrow about the child porn reference with 253 and let me know where I can read that or tomorrow we can start this dance ok?”

Anderson capitulates.

“Why do you gotta be all creepy with secret info? LOL. I apologize for offending you with my funny quip you silly person!” Look blackmail only works if you tell me what I’m supposed to be black mailed about? (i.e.) ‘I'll tell your friends some stuff I know about you’???

Naccarato signs off.

“You heard me. Goodnight.”

To read what Anderson considers his full apology Click Here and scroll half way down the page. Also, according to Anderson, Naccarato has communicated that boozing and Facebooking don’t mix. Anderson’s take: “If you consider yourself Steve's friend... what the hell? All that drinking and nobody says anything? Doesn't sound like a REAL friend to me. Intervention time you meat heads!!!”

So who has gained from this entire diatribe one might ask. “Beats the hell out of me” is the only answer we can give.

But as to who has had the last word to date we can unequivocally say R.R. Anderson who posted the following on his Twitter account.

BREAKING BLACK MAIL SECRET REVEALED: I'm actually the product of an incestuous relationship between Julie Anderson and Eric Anderson...!!!”

MEANWHILE, The kids over at camp666 jumped in going FULL NAZI and Team Jinxmedic gave the McKinnley Hill perspective

We even had some Frost Park Chalk Off 253 inspired designs...

Most Tacomic Readers know my views on GUNS, so it's probably no surprise I'm not a fan of this particular sweatshirt, but it's a free country and you can do what you want with your money.  Who cares?  Also, it's not cool to come after political cartoonists just because they say something you don't like. Remember Molly Norris?

Let me know what you think!  I can take any criticism. My feelings won't be hurt. What kind of society critic would I be If I can dish it out but can't take it?

God bless America!   and Don't shoot!

Chaulk is only for kids now? Flabnabbit! I thought we were pushing the edges of temporal art forms, but it turns out it's not as adult as spray painting a car-hole...Sad day for us chalkies...I guess I'll be switching to sand painting. Anybody seen my my big boy pants, and my children's play-sand? :D

by NineInchNachos on 5/22/2012 @ 9:24am

coming soon,  253  Knife Hoodie!

by cisserosmiley on 6/5/2012 @ 7:22am
Can I get a 253 bloody fist sweatshirt in size large?

by scubiedoo on 6/5/2012 @ 8:18am
I read the TNT article and it made my stomach turn.  Makes me wonder how many more kids out there are capable of 1st degree murder.  *shudder*

I better change the world by wearing my gun hoodie when I get it.  Everyone knows bullet holes are a tad bit cleaner than slicing someone's throat... depending on the bullet caliber.

by JesseHillFan on 6/5/2012 @ 7:10pm
I liked RR comments on that article. They were quite funny.

by NineInchNachos on 7/23/2012 @ 9:49am
how about a 'million 253 gun hoodie march'?

could walk from the Hilltop down to Bull's Eye Shooter handgun range wearing our 253 telephone glock hoodies.
