Lance Kagey has been nominated for FRIEND OF CLAW status by unanimous vote during a secret members-only meeting of the Cartoonists League of Absurd Washingtonians (the C.L.A.W.) I was picked or volunteered to craft his invitation/notice so this is how I chose to honor that commitment. It is no small secret that I am intensely jealous of other artists who are picked to work with Beautiful Angle on a wheat paste poster project... but that is a story for another time. What is important now is that we honor this work-a-day letter press savant by disparaging his main competition, namely Chandler OCD'leery and Jessica Spring Tide. Dead Feminists are soooo 1990! Why don't you women do a broadside on the Murray Morgan Bridge for once? Just how many tributes to Gertrude Stein does the world need, eh? Today the Tacomic honors savage manliness; just look at these guys. They're all stubble, ruddy and pot bellied... that's REAL AMERICA folks. God Bless. UT! And BUY MY BOOK!

by AnagramPress on 11/23/2010 @ 9:23am | You are so right. That is an amazing display of manliness, right there. That is art, and art depicting art, that can unclog a drain, reach the highest shelf, untangle Christmas lights, program a VCR, and light a perfectly pyramidal charcoal briquette fire. It's the kind of art that can say, "Lemme get that for you," and still remember to hold the door for lady-art and to put the toilet seat down. We doff our hats to you, Lance, Tom and RxR—or we would, except that girls don't have to remove their hats for anyone. Maybe we'll just do a broadside instead. |

Tom Llewellyn: I suddenly feel like Dick Grayson, but in a good way. Nice work, Mr. RR. I like how the press somehow transformed into a pasta maker. And I'm glad I at least get a beer out of the deal. +++ Lance Kagey: Oh RR. Thanks for the props. I like the press that also doubles as a pasta maker. MMM Tasty . . . A little less potbelly would be nice. Can we get brad pitt to play me in the movie version? +++ Morgan Alexander: Love "TOM sold separately"! +++ Courtney Stowe: I love that Tom's shirt says "Tilt Haus". |

by Mark Monlux on 11/23/2010 @ 11:55am | Your Adobe Pagemaker 1.0 should actually be Aldus Pagemaker 1.0 to get the whole 'first printer' vibe of Aldus Manutius. But that is a tiny oversight quickly overlooked when you have so perfectly captured Lance's simian toes. |
by NineInchNachos on 11/23/2010 @ 12:26pm | Ah! good tip sir. |
by Springtide Press on 11/23/2010 @ 2:26pm | Nice work, RR, but let's just keep that little cylon comment on the down low--we don't want to start rumors. No way we can do a MM Bridge broadside since it's obviously a male in need of viagra. But Galloping Gertie...
