Rob Mckenna for Governor is back from the T.E.A. party rally and he believes your body, like the internet, is in no way like a truck. You can't just dump insurance mandates on it; your body is a series of tubes!   Therefore, in an act of selfless self-defense Rob "threat level orange" McKenna will stand his ground, bury the hatchet deep in the face of obamacare, douse the bits he doesn't like with 'solutions' and send it all back to kingdom come:

oh well, nice try Dimocrats!  Better luck with socialist light rail.  and Abortion Pillz

The idea of forcing people buy insurance from healthcare corporations is insanity. I'm glad this guy has asked for an opinion from scotus.

by The Jinxmedic on 4/3/2012 @ 7:59am
If this was an actual government-run socialized healthcare program paid for by payroll deduction (i.e an extension of Medicare/Medicaid), I would support it. However, I cannot support this law as written. Requiring citizens to purchase a product from a private commercial entity is, as Cissero says, "insanity". It is simply a constitutional abberation- but then again, that document does not seem to mean a whole lot to our government anymore.

Bring on the Zombie Apocalypse, I say.

Public Option Please!

by CaptainBritton on 4/3/2012 @ 8:16am
I also have a serious problem with the mandate...Why the powers that be lost the nerve to push the public option is beyond me. That said, even with the mandate, people having access to health insurance beats clogging up the ER's across the country. We absolutely need an expansion of Medicare as Jinx states above. I hear the "fine" isn't that unreasonable, but they should just call it what it really is. A tax.

go McKenna!  horsesass.org/?p=42801

I want a public option too. There might be more people using e rooms if this goes through because many people without ins will keep going without, chancing the "fine" which is a deduction on your tax return. When they get sick they will still go to e room, then deal with tax return in April for "fine" A public option would target those currently uninsured.

Canada has healthcare for everybody.  They're on the metric system AND they're getting rid of the penny!  Why is America so backwards?

Why would any (sane) person not want to have health care? And would that same sane person, if injured in an auto accident, be willing to forgo government mandated free care from the hospital?

Why would any (sane) person not want to have health care? tacoma1
There may be religious reasons tacoma1.

by fredo on 4/3/2012 @ 8:40pm

TEAhadists hate our freedoms.

It's all designed to fail to begin with. Not just the question of constitutionality. I'm talking the insane costs and the EASY loophole out of it.

The whole game has been to create a public option. This route makes reforms other than socialized HC look to be impossible.

I think there DOES need to be a public option. We're taxed enough already, we should at least get something useful from it. I just dislike the dishonesty about it. Oh, that and I do not trust the people in the "other Washington" to do a public option right. Whatever they cook up will be good for the insurance and big pharma. After all, YOU are the product Uncle Sam is going to sell them.
I hate that I cannot trust the people we elect to work in our benefit.

This case had to be brought and heard, no individual is a jerk for bringing a case to SCOTUS for a ruling. Without it conservatives would still be pining for justice in healthcare.

by The Jinxmedic on 6/28/2012 @ 8:10am
This is why we have a Supreme Court.
