Long after the rusting, collective reminders of our old growth, environmental holocaust heritage has been sold off to collectors/scrap-yards, the scared footprint of CAMP 6 will be available to forest spirits (viz fairies) to be utilized as REEDUCATION CAMP 6!  Here we imagine feedtacoma's own Mofo from the Hood encountering an overwhelming majority of tiny equal rights activists. The Result?  Seppuku!  Also a special hat tip to TEAM Jinxmedic who has been pioneering a domestic-life-partnership empowered comic strip for years right under everybody's proboscis.

So for clarification, are those crows going to gay marry each other on a steam donkey? And is that really even a problem from a religious standpoint, 'cause animals like, don't have souls and junk?

by marumaruyopparai

Personally I don't care, as long as those amoral crows keep it in the nest and off our steam donkies.

Yeah, okay. Whatever.

This is my real-time novel, "Idealism in Tacoma," which will attempt to sort out the virtual new order I discovered in local blogs and in local 'hoods. I welcome you to join me as I attempt to answer the ongoing question: "Is it new?"

I'm not very up on local politics, but I like the references to Afro Samurai and Princess Mononoke.

I hereby announce that as of today, Ocryx and Joe is finished. That's right, no more crow cartoons. They will join Stowe's family in the "local popular webcomics killed by RR" category.

did America quit when the germans bombed pearl harbor?

by The Jinxmedic
on 8/2/2011 @ 10:38am
All the poor children will log on to see the new O&J tomorrow morning, and all they'll see is - nothing.

Besides, the germans didn't bomb pearl harbor. The british did, but not until Paul Revere and the Raiders went on their midnight ride to warn the citizens of Ohio that the british were coming to like take their guns and stuff.

by NineInchNachos

I think Joel will have to eat crow and tolerate OJ's constant threats to leave the nest...This strip may never get off the ground. But I think RR has the ability to draw lil' strange fairies who moonlight as gay activists with the best of them. Bravo.

RR I love your use of the saw as the header - And nice angle like a "How to Draw Tacomics the Marvel Way" composition...Saweeet!

@jinx
"Local popular webcomics killed by RR" category?" What, has he gay married other Tacoma comic strip characters, is this a pattern? Is that what happened to NSOTD? Did RR gay marry the entire Stowe family, is that even possible? And while we're at it, what happened to SCATS? Are Stowe and Freitas gay married now too? Man, Mofo has been right all this time gay marriage ruins everything!

Take the power back jinx! Bring your crows to counseling, it doesn't have to end like this. Homosexuality is a disease, Ocryx and Joe can be cured!

@britton wish I coulda pushed myself to be more like the hyper-crazy aftro samurai perspective. My copy of HOW TO DRAW marvel way sits by my drawing table... recommended CLAW seeker material A + + + !

@jinx
Ya sure? Don't dismiss it out of hand, it would be a compelling story arc, all the ingredients are there. Ocryx and Joe go to gay counseling, it's topical, it's compelling, and it advocates a strong Christian moral theme.

by NineInchNachos
on 8/2/2011 @ 7:49pm
Maru why do you gotta be shoving your bait down peoples throats like obamacare?

by daubermaus
on 8/2/2011 @ 8:07pm
Writer here: O & J are not gay, they are brothers. Go read read the quest to find Dad from the start.

There is an episode story boarded where they argue over a girl - it will be used at some future point.

And yes - it will eventually get used because there is a future for the strip. Just as soon as the current arc is finished running - you will understand how timely this little diversion really is to the arc.

And in the future I may just storyboard a few arcs for O.J. & Joel - if I can find a cartoonist worthy of the subject matter......

Ah, well. you can be brothers and still be Platonic Domestic life Partners.

by marumaruyopparai
on 8/2/2011 @ 11:15pm
Well see, there's half my problem right there, I have the wrong crows all together, I'm not sure who O.J. and Joel are, are they Tacomic native or from Ocryx and Joe? Either way I'm willing to accept Ocryx and Joe for the heterosexual crow's they are. And I will accept O.J. and Joel's lifestyle choice as well, whatever it turns out to be, I'll stay tuned.

R.R., come on man, if this were an Obamacare discussion my comments would be twice as long and twice as incoherent. Although, it is pretty unrealistic of me to expect anyone to match my zeal in anticipation of gay crow on gay crow wild kingdom romance. I'll have to settle for the current heart string tugging story arc and get myself better acquainted with the cast so I don't go mixing my crows up again.

MNN Presents: Stranger Than Fiction
Your Host and Narrator, Mofo from the Hood.

It's been nearly ten years since her E-mail.

"Go to KOMOnews.com. There's a story about me," she wrote.

She was five years away from becoming Seattle's favorite wedding invitation designer. But on this day, to my surprise, I found out that she had already launched her cross-media marketing campaign with a nightly news television broadcast.

After I viewed the archived news story that afternoon, I was able to reach her by telephone. "Wow, congratulations. You must be proud of your effort to help those folks. How did this whole thing come about?"

She explained to me that a few days prior to her broadcast, she had watched a KOMO TV news story about two young Seattle guys who had been denied service by a Seattle wedding invitation company.

The villains of the story were a husband and wife invitation company who refused to work with the two guys because of a conflict of interest. The husband and wife are Christian and so they, as guardians of the faith, are under obligation to protect and preserve the holy sacrament of marriage.

Of course KOMO TV didn't attempt to put forth that simple explanation of the Christian standpoint.

After watching that evening news story, my graphic designer friend immediately called KOMO TV to get the contact information for the two guys who needed invitations.

Consequently, KOMO TV did a follow-up story with filming at the apartment of the two guys including my friend conducting a business meeting for wedding invitations. Another scene showed the three of them seated on a couch and the two guys praising her for helping them.

The strangest part of the whole story is that my invitation designer friend was raised Catholic.

Oh, and as her primary commercial printer, I did consent to print the invitations announcing the wedding of those two guys.

For further reading see Mofo from the Hood's Blog, November 20, 2008 entry: "Ukeru Samurai Karma Food Critic Vol 1. No. 1." This short story is part of a trilogy (Nov. 22: Vol. 1.  No. 2 and Nov. 25: Vol. 1.  No. 3) that portrays the consequences of practicing a particular world/life view. The addendum commentary following Vol. 1. No. 1 veered into a discussion of the money-making potential of promoting certain views. The influence on the design of this Tacomic is coincidental as is the influence of my July 17, 2011 entry: "Sunday Scriber 36 (Jolly Roger)" There is no link between this Tacomic and my October 24, 2011 entry: "QUANTUM FOAM: Start Now" and my February 13, 2012 entry: "QUANTUM FOAM 25: The Pretentious Twit Club."
