Microsofttaxdodge.com writes: "Facing a $2.8 billion deficit and pending insolvency, Washington State's House Bill 3176 proposes changes to its B&O Royalty tax that would give Microsoft an estimated $100 million tax cut annually and possible amnesty for more than a billion dollars in past tax evasion."
So, instead of going after these white-collar criminals, Olympia is looking to fill budget gaps creatively by taxing horrible american death products like cigarettes, gum, candy, corn syrup, soda pop, gold, bottled water and gasoline. Sounds stupid right? Well you haven't seen stupid until you've seen the other side's solution--an initiative to turn the state seal into a tapeworm sticking out somebody's asshole. Which isn't as bad as some other state where a Teabagger-asshole flew his private airplane into IRS building (a move, ironically, straight out of the islamo-fascist terror play-book).
Anyhow, hopefully this jet-tanker deal will work out and Norm Dicks can pull some strings and get the Military Industrial Welfare Complex to keep our Boeing factories going. Idle pilots are the devils workshop.

by fredo on 2/23/2010 @ 7:32am | Don't forget, Steve Ballmer and other well-positioned millionaire friends of Chris Gregoire will be paying the proposed taxes on their candy, cigarettes and pancake syrup as well. |
by jenyum on 2/23/2010 @ 7:38am | In the past I've had a little bit of luck with inline css. Had to create some divs (or maybe paragraphs, can't remember) and do it that way. Of course, you're stuck with whatever fits inside the box.

by NineInchNachos on 2/23/2010 @ 7:45am | facebook friend Douglas Tooley sez: "K&L Gates, the post Abramoff re-branding of MS's law firm, is now publicly advising corporations to use political third parties, like the US Chamber, to avoid backlash." |
by Erik on 2/23/2010 @ 8:07am | Of all of the taxes to pick, these ones are not too bad IMO. |
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 2/23/2010 @ 9:47am | The pancake lobby will not stand for this. Hundreds of women dressed as Mrs. Butterworth will be picketing the capitol before the week is over. "What do we want?" "Pancakes!!" "How do we want them" "With syrup!!" I understand that the waffle lobby is also interested in joining in. |
by NineInchNachos on 2/23/2010 @ 9:52am | ha ha hoped folks would recognize Ms. Buttersworth |

Thanks Jeff and Cory Doctorow !!!!!! |
by Mark Monlux on 2/23/2010 @ 11:44am | What's wrong with taxing bottled water? Just because the state says that some contamination in the tap water is understandable..uh..acceptable..um...the way things is. Yeah, that's it. |
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 2/23/2010 @ 11:51am | I'll tell people I knew RR when. Nice bit of publicity there for Tacomic. |
by fredo on 2/23/2010 @ 11:56am | Crenshaw, right. One of RR's best caricatures. Any recognition received is well deserved. |
by NineInchNachos on 2/23/2010 @ 12:35pm | "There was just too much going on about what the guy did and what he believed in, and enough's enough," he said. "They don't need to talk about him. Talk about my dad. You know, some people are trying to make this guy out to be a hero, a patriot. My dad served two terms in Vietnam. This guy never served at all. My dad wasn't responsible for his tax problems."

by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 2/23/2010 @ 12:37pm | You may have to sell signed prints of this one RR the demand could be huge. |
by NineInchNachos on 2/23/2010 @ 12:47pm | I don't know where i'm going, but i'm on my way! |
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 2/23/2010 @ 12:47pm | Steve Ballmer and other well-positioned millionaires are friends of all politicians, not just Chris Gregoire. I'm sure they'd be pretty chummy with Dino Rossi if he managed to get elected. You can pick your friends, and you pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose, unless you are in politics where this is common practice. |
by jenyum on 2/23/2010 @ 1:21pm | The jet tanker logo is really unfortunate, I agree. |
by david on 2/23/2010 @ 8:29pm | I just saw this on boingboing and came rushing over! Congratulations!! hahaha! |
by Thorax O'Tool on 2/23/2010 @ 9:51pm | If M$ wants to leave the state, I won't cry.
But everyone on the Eastside will. Oh well, can't win 'em all, can you? |

by Altered Chords on 2/24/2010 @ 9:10am | I heard that Microsoft was moving to Tacoma. Into a skyscraper that the german billionaire was going to build. Russell building is way to small. |
by fredo on 2/24/2010 @ 9:35am | RR your tacomic is going viral. |
by Erik on 2/24/2010 @ 9:46am | Nice work RR! |
by KevinFreitas on 2/24/2010 @ 12:35pm | Let us know if Ballmer buys this one off ya. :) |
by Erik on 2/24/2010 @ 12:40pm | Geesh. Someone should be willing to buy it for $66.67.
The "behind the scene photo" made this Tacomic golden! |
by NineInchNachos on 2/24/2010 @ 1:22pm | Sparking quite the tax debate on boing boing...
www.boingboing.net/2010/02/23/cartoon-ab... one guy arguing that there is no microsoft tax break. I am unsure who to believe though. It's OK to be skeptical about the Tacomic... It's my cartooning policy that if I read it on the internet, then it's OK to draw a cartoon. I'll let bus-driver Mofo be in charge of "Truth" |
by Mofo from the Hood on 2/26/2010 @ 1:49pm | Minister of Truth checking in.
Most of what I know about current events I learn from Tacomics. |
by Altered Chords on 2/26/2010 @ 4:58pm | Me too. Who wants to read stuff when you can look at a funny picture. |
