Our downtrodden citizens are looking for chemical escape and as long as there is a demand there will always be a supply.
Our leadership, or police have all given up. Thrown in the towel... tired of punching at air. Resources have been diverted to protecting the big screen plasma TVs and Ipods living in University Place & Ruston... self invented communities that have seceded from the old ideal of a unified Tacoma.
In the safety of darkness Downtown Tacoma belongs to them.

Ok, that made me laugh. For a moment I thought I was over on Exit133 reading Satire & Spoof. I'm hoping this is just RR yet again posing feasible fiction (see below) in proximity to fact (crack dealing in Tacoma) for his own laugh. But since he is still somewhat new to town, and since I fear many might read it as fact, a couple notes ...
1. UP and Ruston were never and are not part of the City of Tacoma. They have their own police. (Though I'm sure there are some services they contract for with the City, but they pay for them.)
2. I'm not sure if describing Ruston as "self-invented" is quite right. If a company town created by smelter owner William Rust likely to dodge the rules and regulations of the nearby growing big city is self-invented, well, go for it.
3. "old idea of a unified Tacoma"? Huh?
Oh, wait, was this written by a sock puppet?!
You really need to write a novel. Sorry, memoir. I think it would be a fun read. And you could be on Oprah ... |
