by NineInchNachos on 4/29/2008 @ 11:22am | Thanks heather, My wife says he looks like a creepy Winston Churchill baby in this drawing. |
by izenmania on 4/29/2008 @ 11:28am | Well, I've heard it said that all newborns look a bit like tiny versions of Winston Churchill. |
by Erik on 4/29/2008 @ 11:31am | Nice work. Edgy but embraces good community themes.
You should email Kunstler the link and post his response assuming it does not blow out the #$@@ filters on Feed Tacoma. |
by Adam the Alien on 4/29/2008 @ 3:28pm | I love the chalk in the corner. :-D |
by Erik on 4/29/2008 @ 3:55pm | Go local indeed.
It’s almost here – that $4-per-gallon gasoline. Actually, if you’re buying premium, it’s already arrived, according to AAA. The average price of a gallon of ethyl in Tacoma hit $4.03 today, up from $4.028 on Monday. The sign above shows that a central Tacoma 7-Eleven is selling a bit below the city's average price for the highest grade, and a bit above the average for regular-grade, which topped out at $3.706 this morning, which is just a hair under the all-time record in Tacoma, set on Sunday, at $3.707. And if Tacoma wasn’t in record territory today, other Washington cities were. Count Bremerton, Olympia, Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, Vancouver and Yakima among the pacesetters. Tacoma did, however, hit a record price for diesel today – at $4.469. blogs.thenewstribune.com/business/2008/0... Hmmm. |
by AP on 4/29/2008 @ 6:32pm | I think he looks a lot like ex-Sonics coach George Karl. |
by ensie on 4/29/2008 @ 11:14pm | Yep. That's about what he looked like from my seat. Pissed off at everything and everybody.
P.S. - AP, Your Avitar is freaking me fuck out for some reason. |
by Daymaker on 4/29/2008 @ 11:19pm | That's freakin' hilarious!!!!! |

by Erik on 6/23/2008 @ 4:54pm | Yeah, the US economy and oil prices have pretty much followed the Kunstler curve since he came here. Oil prices may drop in the future, but it doesn't look likely we are going to see anything over $2.50 a gallon again. Meanwhile in Tacoma, we are still a bit stuck and cannot build any buildings that do not mandate car use. Tacoma's 1960s building codes are still based on mandatory car use and dollar gas and bar any housing construction unless residents buy a parking space. Worse, the suburban sprawl inducing "cross base highway" is still being pushed and we are expected to pay for it. Here's Kunstler's latest: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJckdzrDSs0 and Here's what Kunstler is doing to prepare in Peak Oil: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGnMdutpd04 Looks like the "Peak Oil" issue has gone from obscurity to the main issue. |
by NineInchNachos on 6/23/2008 @ 5:10pm | backwards thinking:
5views.com/2008/06/17/traffic-and-microb... remember that when you create crude oil from poop of bacteria, those bacteria need to eat... what are you going to feed them with? Remember what "biofuel" did to food prices? It is time to start re-imagining the American dream yo. |
by fredo on 6/23/2008 @ 8:43pm | Eric@ Surprising how long it's taking the City Council to acknowlege the role that height restrictions and parking requirements play in stifling Tacoma's urban growth. |
by morgan on 6/23/2008 @ 10:19pm | Europeans have payed nearly twice as much for gas as we do for a long time. The same is true there as it is here: nearly half the price paid at the pump results from taxes. The difference is that the Europeans have something to show for it: effective mass transit.
|
by NineInchNachos on 6/23/2008 @ 10:34pm | Didn't Tacoma used to have an amazing street car network? What happened? Also what comes first the population density or the mass transit? All I know is soon when the gas runs out, it's going to be a good time to be Portland with all their fancy pants light rail. Now there is a city that knows how to build a brawny lady statue ![]() |
by NineInchNachos on 7/15/2008 @ 4:15pm | more happy news!

by Erik on 7/15/2008 @ 4:41pm | In the end, Russell may end up staying in Tacoma because its too expensive to move somewhere else. |
by NineInchNachos on 7/15/2008 @ 5:10pm | if Russell can survive the US Banking System Meltdown |
by NineInchNachos on 9/4/2008 @ 9:46am | Kunstler talks economy on Financial Sense Newshour! www.netcastdaily.com/broadcast/fsn2008-0... highlights: * drill baby drill will not help us. let em' drill and fail, that will shut them up. * airline industry is on the endangered species list |
by Erik on 9/4/2008 @ 11:25am | drill baby drill will not help us. let em' drill and fail, that will shut them up. Yeah, that is not going to change the depletion curve much. |
