I like it, it reminds me of revolutionary war era cartoons.

Thanks! I am inspired by the old cartoons quite a bit... Mr. Thomas Nast in particular. You'll probably never see a text-bubble either an this series :)

A true story about Police Brutality.
by Arianna Martelli on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 12:19pm

Today around 11 am, the Tacoma police showed up at my dads house to arrest my uncle steve who had supposedly violated a restraining order. Mind you this alleged violation was callled in by my uncle Brian (a loser, heroin addict, thief) who ran into my uncle Steve at a garage sale earlier this morning and decided to call the cops to report it, as my uncle Brian was the one who took the restraining order out in the first place. The cops arrested my uncle in the front yard, then proceeded to enter my dads house without permision or justifiable cause. My dogs began to bark, I went out to see what was going on and saw the cops wandering in my dad's living room. I asked them what they were doing in here. They replied that they were looking for my dad. I asked why and on what grounds? They replied they needed to talk with him about my uncle. I went to go look for my dad to let him know. He came in the house from the garage where they accosted and attempted to arrest him. Me and my father asked several times why they were here and on what grounds. They replied they had a warrant. I ASKED WHAT WARRANT?, SHOW ME THE WARRANT! They said they had probable cause, and continued to dismiss what the cause was and refused to show me a warrant. My dad continued to peacefully resist. Whereupon they began tazing him, they tazed him several times until he was on the floor. At that point they began beating him with batons. Whereupon my dad continued to ask why he was being arrested. They kept beating him then he scremed for me for help. I ran into the room to see what they were doing, pleading with them to stop, one of the cops turned around and hit me in the head with a baton. I almost passed out, my head and eye was bleeding and I could not see. My fiance came out to assist me. I ran into the yard screaming for help. Luckily Dan had the whole thing recorded, unfortunately just audio. The police called for back-up. Soon there were 6 cop cars at my house, all because my 50-year-old father was peacefully resisting and questioning the arrest. The cops stood in his yard smirking as my dad was brought out, beaten to a pulp. They quickly wrapped up his head and whisked him away. We still have been unable to locate him.... I had to be seen at the hospital for my head injury, which fortunately was minor.. The cops booked me for interfering with an arrest and my court date is yet to be announced. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND HELP IN ANYWAY!!!

10/24/2010 Found my dad finally. Bailed him out. He had broken ribs, shoulder, arm and a busted up face. We have photos and audio recordings of it all. We have witnesses. We are documenting it all and hiring a lawyer. We are not letting this injustice fall through the cracks. I am concerned for my safety. Those that are supposed to serve & protect the people are assaulting and terrorizing the people. The only charge my dad had on his record was a misdemeanor traffic offense. The had no warrant or permission to enter. We asked them to leave. We asked to see a warrant. We asked why they were doing this. They gave no answer. Two grown men tazed and beat my dad to a pulp, then two more were called in for back up. They hit me for asking questions. They laughed and mocked us. They forced us out of our homes into the streets bleeding as the neighbors watched, all the while they continued to laugh and refused to tell us why they were doing this.

Talked to several lawyers today. In contact with ACLU and Sensible WA. Haave written to the news, congressmen, makign a complaint to the city and writing to the city manager. Making copies of all photos and testimony and audio recording. Better pictures of my dad to be posted soon.

My eye was bleeding and i could not see for 10 minutes

after it was cleaned, and brusing and swelling were showing.

what you don't see is the string of nasty injury photos in-between text.

make a complaint directly to the police union about the specific badge numbers-this will eventually take away a few resources for them to be defended by collective money from all other officers.

Apparently this meme has hijacked the sleepy 'mighty tacoma' thread over on that weary war-horse of a blog exit133 dot com!

I know there's two sides to every story, etc, but I hope that this is investigated, and that this is not the new (or the old) normal for the TPD.

I am not a lawyer however I do not think that it is legal to peacefully resist an arrest.
However if the police search without a legal warrant, probable cause they can be sued for violating inalienable constitutional rights ( I think that a lawsuit must be brought within the 3 year time frame or in other words contact an attorney ASAP).Sometimes they use the extingent circumstances (lying B.S.) excuse to get around a illegal search.
The best thing to do if they say that one is under arrest is just to go with them peacefully without any resistance.
By resisting that gives the police the excuse to use force and to add another possible criminal charge.
I know it sucks especially if one is wrongfully incarcerated, life disrupted and/or property harmed and does not seem right but anyone can be arrested at any time even if you are not breaking any law.It does sound like the TPD acted in a sadistic manner though.
Only a sadist would take pleasure in hurting another human being.
