by ensie on 10/9/2007 @ 11:04am | I felt like screaming on Saturday afternoon when I was stuck in traffic. All I could get from KOMO Radio was the fact that there was a vague "explosion" in Tacoma and that the 5 Freeway was closed. I was trying to get home and make sure things were OK, but there were no details, and they kept switching to the national news to tell me about the fact that cranberries would be late ripening this season and there was some festival going on in the midwest. I was literally screaming at the radio to tell me how to get home. When a traffic report would come on, it would tell me, helpfully, that the bridges in Seattle were all clear.
So much for the "news". |
by NineInchNachos on 10/9/2007 @ 12:04pm | same here ensie, we watched a huge fireball rise up over the tree tops. My crusty long time resident neighbor was instantly "Oh my god... was that the foundry!?" ALL news was oblivious... my wife went right to the DOT traffic cams where we watched the fires burning. Within a half hour there was a video uploaded to YOU TUBE. where you could watch uncensored and without commercial interruptions.
God Bless the Internets. |

by jenyum on 4/4/2008 @ 5:34pm | It used to smell like burning plastic down there every time I drove through, I always thought there was something wrong with my car, then remembered I was in the Nalley Valley. Hasn't smelled that way since the explosion. I wonder what else was going on inside those buildings that wasn't quite up to code. |
