But a closer look at her deliberate use of vernacular and language reveals that she has gone far beyond any other candidate in vice presidential history in the dangerous and irresponsible implications of her attacks. She has phrased her attacks on Obama in a way that avoids accountability to the press while specifically addressing the subset of her audience who are most likely to advocate extreme actions against Obama."

Anil Dash writes: 1. Sarah Palin has unequivocally associated Barack Obama with the idea of terrorism and specifically with "terrorists". 2. Republican President George Bush has defined in our National Security Strategy, and the Republican Party's platform affirms, that we may identify and strike at terrorists before they have committed any defined acts of aggression against American citizens. 3. George Bush has made clear, by stating before a joint session of Congress that "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." 4. Palin has used deliberate choice of language to avoid these connections being highlighted by the media, while increasing the likelihood that the target audience for her message will be incited by her statements.

Pretty Palin Passes on Parts of Package juneauempire.com/stories/032009/sta_4125... she's taking enough funds to save her ass after inept budget shortfalls, but she's rejecting the parts that you know, will fix schools and help people. |
by marumaruyopparai on 3/20/2009 @ 10:44pm | Nice alliteration. |
by NineInchNachos on 7/3/2009 @ 4:10pm | she is out of her god damn mind. “We’ve got to put first things first … I’m doing what’s best for Alaska,” she said, citing a family refrigerator magnet that suggests not trying to explain anything because critics won’t believe it anyway. www.juneaublogger.com/updates/?p=2056 quitter! |
by Erik on 7/3/2009 @ 4:14pm | You have to lover her logic:

by Thorax O'Tool on 7/5/2009 @ 1:49pm | Dude, you really, really dislike her.
Does this have something to do with the exile from Alaska? |
by marumaruyopparai on 7/5/2009 @ 2:40pm | Does this have something to do with the exile from Alaska? This is not a case of sour grapes! This is a concerned native Alaskan trying to draw attention to the plight faced by his people and our nation! Our state was being run by a megalomaniacal religous zealot who takes political and P.R. advice from her refrigerator magnets. Maybe if political strategists from the opposition parties can get their hands on those magnets they can extrapolate the ideological and strategic path of her political campaign if she makes a presidential run in 2012. We gotta get our hands on those magnets! |
by Thorax O'Tool on 7/5/2009 @ 2:57pm | Well, no offense and all, but sometimes I think political advice from a magnet has got to be better than some of the idiots and their idiot advisers we have running amok in Olympia and DC. |
by Thorax O'Tool on 7/5/2009 @ 3:12pm | Realistically, we all know that every person wears two or more hats. Who you are at work is not necessarily a reflection of who you are at home. I rarely swear (most people I know have never heard me use the F-bomb), but at work the social interactions often require the use of an F-Bomb or the like... but that doesn't mean that I swear like a sailor. The TO'T of the internet and the Larry of work and the Larry of friends & Family are not the same person, they are all aspects of what I perceive myself to be, and who I choose to present them to. Perceptions of one's own personality depend greatly on the people one is with and the social setting. Anyone remember how in The Godfather, you could kill a man and then go to Mass on Sunday morning because it was "just business"? That's an extreme example of what I'm saying here... there is a separation we make, whether it be conscious or not. This same principal applies to stay-at-home moms, emerging artists, CEOs, 5-Star admirals and to politicians. We wear a different hat based on our needs, goals and the perceptions we have. We present ourselves in sometimes radically different ways for acceptance, gain, power, for others, etc. Often times, it's thought that the persona you present when at ease with friends and family is the most accurate expression of "you". We can call it the "real" you... even though there is no real you. And now I come to what I'm really wondering. The Sarah Palin we see is not the same as her family and friends see. The Obama we see is a carefully designed persona. You and I don't get to see the real Barack that his wife and girls do. We don't get to see the real Vladimir Putin or the real Gregoire any more than we got to see the real Stalin or Hitler. It's easy to call her stupid or a moose-shooting redneck. But how much of that is towing the party line, and how much of that is the manufactured persona? Do we, or can we ever know who Sarah Palin actually is? Extrapolating it farther, can we ever know who each other, and much less ourselves actually are? |

by NineInchNachos on 7/5/2009 @ 5:37pm | Throax thinks I hate palin. On the contrary. I love palin with every fiber of my being. As a political cartoonist originating in Alaska I look to the north and envy my friends who were 'left behind' Mrs. Palin is a boon to the oped cartoon industry for god sakes.
