Ocryx and Joe

Ocryx and Joe saving the Kalakala- RR style

Yes, the Kalakala is still in grave danger- perhaps RR style is the only way to get people to do something? Er, maybe not...

Recently again, RR was complimented for nice work on an O&J comic. Well, you see, RR doesn't do O&J. The Jinxmedics do O&J. O&J are clean pen-and-ink with grayscale shading. RR does loose pencil work with a gradient halfscreen background, and usually involves gross body imagery of execretory function, or some-such.

If the jinxmedics were to draw RR style, it would look something like this....

but if you look closely I'm really drawing ravens. You can tell because ravens have wedge tails, crows have fan tails..
However it is kinda fun confusing people.

Parity on Wikipedia:

There are so many funny ways to interpret it.

Erik: Heh.
Chris 7.2: The "parity" I referenced was a mispelling of "parody" by A Jeremy Gregory fan. An excerpt appears here:

The comic you posted as a parity to Jeremy Gregorys work was a sad attempt at reproducing something great. Dont quit your day job, your not so good.

I must admit the P-A-R-O-D-Y was indeed a sad attempt to imitate the characteristic style of TRUE GRIT for comic effect or ridicule. Y-O-U-’-R-E correct in your assessment of greatness. Thank you!

MEANWHILE HERE IS AN UPDATE ON THE KALAKALA FROM THE KALAKALA OWNER (via facebook):

Mr. Leonard Boekelman, from Stockton, CA. owns Global Seaven Oceanic, LLC, Leonard and his wife, Ronald Waling (Bellevue), and Kimberly Schmidtke(Bellvue) were the new Kalakala buyers. The Kalakala did sell with a Bill of Sale signed December 18, 2011 at the Hilton Hotel in Bellvue, WA. They did pay $1.00 but failed to place any more funds into escrow. They were real and Leonard was a millionaire not billionaire as media stated. They promised to pay for immediate safety repairs and tow her to Stockton, CA June 18, 2012. No funds, no works done for repairs, and so their Bill of Sale became Null & Void. Other fund interests with private equity firm in Houston, TX. is in process. First fund application is in process and may take up to 120 days. Many other interests were presented but nothing worthy of saving her. Charles Medlin, failed in 2003, to purchase the Kalakala. He tried and failed again.Steve Rodrigues is meeting with Washington State Ferries executive director regarding Pier 48 in Seattle. Pier 48 is owned by WSDOT. Steve will share the Texas loan and investment fund and requesting the Kalakala project to become a part of the 2025 Seattle waterfront development master plan. This is the home of the Kalakala, and where she belongs. We are only asking for a $1 per year 20 year moorage lease. Steve is also asking waterfront committee and businesses, county executives, city officials for letters of endorsement to allow the Kalakala to have her future home in Seattle. The fund is important to identify where the Kalakalaf will have a home and generate future operating revenues. In the mean time The Kalakala SEC private offering is still selling $1 per share. Phase I is to close July 3, 2012 or after selling up to a $1 million. Anyone in America can purchase these Kalakala shares today.

Somebody in Hollywood should buy the Kalakala as a spaceship prop and put giant pencils on it for engines. I wish somebody in the movie biz would get RR's hints already.

I'm inspired to draw more guest strip tributes.  Here is how you draw crows! comics.feedtacoma.com/tacomic/tacomic-le...

by The Jinxmedic
on 1/25/2012 @ 9:39am
That's not how I draw crows... I simply draw an outline in ink, scan it, and color it in Photoshop.

if I had fully developed, reoccurring characters in a cartoon strip I was drawing they'd each have individual feed>>tacoma commenting accounts.
imagine!  REAL cartoon strip characters interacting with the fans!  It is why god invented multiple internet browsers!

My grandpa and I snuck aboard the Kalakala back when it was in lake union. Took some video too of the interior. Wonder if I can find it.

above was a picture from the front of the ship. a whole rusty floor was removed in alaska to make this big space for the fish processing equipment... the hippy seattle artists thought it would make a great theater performance space.

The original art for this Tacomic - er, "Ocryx and Joe" is for sale. Only $666.66!

(or make offer)

This piece features both pen-and-ink and RR-inspired loose scratchy pencil on the same piece of paper! It's like two completely different pieces of art for the price of one!
