There are also lots of people with really busy lives, kids, just barely staying afloat and in those cases, unfortunately, going local is likely the last thing on their mind. :( Not an excuse just a reality.
Simple things anyone can do: try out a local farmers' market. The Proctor one is still going strong on Saturdays. Need clothes? Try one of the numerous shops down on Pacific of just off 9th and Broadway (men and women!). Want a toy/gift for your little ones? Hit up a place like Learning Sprout downtown, Teaching Toys in Proctor, or ChildTrek out near 26th and Pearl! Among many other go local options... |
