|This reminds me, there's a wonderful exhibit of CLAW art work down at the Amocat Cafe. It's located just a block or two north of the Municipal building. check it out.|

|Max would say: Bird said damn. Bird said bad word right therrrre.

|Yes, yes and yes.|

|Anyone notice during the last month the truck with that weird drilling rig down on Stadium Way?
Inquiring minds want to know. Some phone calls to the city revealed that they were taking soil cores for the engineering work to do a LID involving a train....
by The Jinxmedic on 11/10/2010 @ 9:59am
|I was wondering about that.|
by Thorax O'Tool on 11/10/2010 @ 11:39am
|Here's the skinny:
plan is to do a Stadium Wy LID. We'll have 2 lanes, theoretically a train in the middle and bike lanes. Also, the whole guard rail will be reworked and sidewalks done.
As to when it happens, I'm told it is to begin in 2011 if the stars align.
by The Jinxmedic on 11/10/2010 @ 12:00pm
|If the stars align? Would that be the Tacoma Stars?|
All kidding aside, it's good to see progress on the LINK master plan. I'm wondering about that last grade at the 90 degree turn at Stadium High- that could be interesting.
With LeMay to be completed in late 2011, and the Elks rennovation by the end of 2012, expect to see increased ridership on the LINK.
(Next up- the Portland Avenue extension to Salishan.)

|I simply mean that the City actually gets their sh*t done. T-Town has a habit of making 2 year projects take 15 to materialize.
I am pleased to mention that the decreasing value of the ST train funds is spurring faster than "normal" action on part of the city.
by Jesse on 11/10/2010 @ 5:00pm
|Wait just a second! Aren't they going to "study" most of the money away and then overspend by double or more what it should cost per mile? (See also; Seattle to airport light rail)
My call is that we see 1 or 2 miles of track from the $160 million after all the studies, parking garage build-outs, and daily operating costs for Sound Transit are taken out --- which they've already said they plan to do.
Can we just get Tri-Met to manage this project? Please? Pretty please?

|Fun comic though. To dream the impossible dream...|
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 11/10/2010 @ 6:25pm
|Unless Obama gives Tacoma this money it will never happen. Not in today's economy.|
by fredo on 11/10/2010 @ 8:03pm
|gotta agree crenshaw.
tacoma is a depressed city that is hemorrhaging red ink, and our local labor unions have the manager and city council entirely bent over. this is not going to turn out well.
by The Jinxmedic on 11/11/2010 @ 6:10am
|But the council has new furniture...|
by fredo on 11/11/2010 @ 8:40am
|clearly this can mean only one thing.
furniture is a higher priority than transportation.
in a fredo administration i would ask local citizens to donate used furniture and we'd sell all the good stuff. tacoma needs a show of austerity. all we get is a flock of over-indulged banty hens cackling about George W. Bush's two unfunded wars.

|Perhaps sending a 12" x 12" glossy, hi-quality print of this comic to each council member, the mayor and ANDERSON (All hail!) would do some good?
Either way, perhaps the guilt will nibble at what little soul any of them have left.
by The Jinxmedic on 11/11/2010 @ 12:03pm
|Perhaps I should have such a high-quality framed print available at the AMOCAT CLAW gallery opening?|

|LINK - Sound Transit will be in our neighborhood hosting an open
house on August 22nd. There you can check out, discuss and make
comments about where, why and how the LINK should be expanded beyond its
current track downtown. If this is important to you in the MLK - Its
time to make your voice known.
