Fugu is right... even the strong can use a hand from time to time. And given the loss of life and property in Japan's recent triple disaster (sounds like a horror film), it's only the right thing to to to lend a hand to our friends on the other side of the Pacific.
If you can spare a few dollars, please donate to the Red Cross or other worthwhile charity.

More details from a facebook thread: Robert Mitchell: World vision and americares are quite good to. More than 90% or more of the donations actually go towards the causes. Chy Mausheim: True, but Japan has a closed system financially and any donation to a non-japanese banking charity is embargoed for 6-8 weeks. Chy Mausheim: Right now there are only 5 major international charities that are bringing cash into the system, as time goes on more will be waivered. So I posted this one because money donated today gets into their accounts today. And they are a good group that has done good things for others. Robert Mitchell: thats nice.... what about the materials they may be buying? Chy Mausheim: Until Japan's parliment inacts an emergency exemption - Japan is a closed system. Materials ahve to be purchased from unaffected areas of Japan. Or already stockpiled in country by a charity like NGO Jen or Baptist World. Chy Mausheim: They will open the system, but it takes time and people have needs now. The US Red Cross in Southern Japan is another charity that's actively working right now. |
